CRADLE OF FILTH Shoots Down Reports Of Drummer's Departure
October 7, 2006British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have rejected persistent reports that drummer Adrian Erdlandsson has left the band.
Over the course of the last few months, rumors of Adrian's departure have been gaining strength, with several "in-the-know" parties claiming that Adrian was fired from the group just days before they were to sign a new publishing deal. As a result, it was reported (but not officially confirmed) that Erlandsson was relegated to the status of a "session" member (whereby he is paid only for time worked and is not entitled to any publishing or artist royalties),a situation which was rumored to have strained his relationship with the band's frontman Dani Davey (a.k.a. Dani Filth).
In the last few weeks, Erlandsson — a native Swede who was in AT THE GATES and THE HAUNTED prior to joining CRADLE OF FILTH — has been getting increasingly involved in outside projects — such as NEMHAIN (which is fronted by Erlandsson's wife, fetish model Morrigan Hel; a.k.a. Amber England) and NEEDLEYE — culminating in his non-appearance in CRADLE OF FILTH's new video for the song "Temptation", thereby further fuelling rumors of his departure from the group.
According to a message released via CRADLE OF FILTH's official MySpace page, which is monitored (but not run) by the band, Erlandsson "was unable to attend (the video shoot for 'Temptation') because he had drum clinics booked and the band couldn't change the filming date; Adrian couldn't cancel his drum clinic." The message goes on to reiterate that "Erlandsson has NOT left CRADLE OF FILTH."
CRADLE OF FILTH's video for "Temptation" can be viewed at this location. The song comes off the group's seventh album, "Thornography", which is scheduled for release on October 17 through Roadrunner Records. An e-card for the CD can be accessed here.
The follow-up to 2004's "Nymphetamine", "Thornography" was recorded at Lincolnshire, England's Chapel studios with producer Rob Caggiano (BLEEDING THROUGH, ANTHRAX) and was mixed at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, SKINLAB, NEVERMORE). The narraration for "Thornography" was once again laid down by Doug Bradley (a.k.a. "Hellraiser"'s chief Cenobite, Pinhead),who has previously worked with the group on "Her Ghost in the Fog" and "Swansong for a Raven".
